About the North Coast Yard

Cleveland’s North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation (NCWDC) is launching North Coast Yard—a pop-up lakefront public space opening this summer on the city-owned lot next to the Steamship Mather, north of Browns Stadium. This project is a key step in creating a vibrant, equitable waterfront that connects people with nature and the city, building on the community vision established in the North Coast Master Plan. This seasonal project will activate our lakefront with engaging programming, local food and drinks, and plenty of space to just relax and enjoy the view.

The North Coast Yard is located at 515 Erieside Avenue in Downtown Cleveland. Much like a public park, the space is open for passive use dawn to dusk daily, with a variety of special programs on deck (visit our Events Page for details).

Rotating food trucks operated by Soul Republic Hospitality will be open Thursday and Friday from 5pm – 9pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 9pm. The pop-up lakefront bar is open Thursday and Friday from 5pm – 9pm and Saturday from 3pm – 9pm.

About the Project Team

The North Coast Yard is led by the North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation (NCWDC) – a not-for-profit entity that is charged with the equitable development of Cleveland’s North Coast Lakefront as a destination for residents, business, recreation and visitors. It is responsible for the planning, financing, land management, development coordination and oversight, community benefits, and oversight of a New Community Authority and development districts to implement Cleveland’s downtown waterfront development project. NCWDC’s mission is to implement a unified vision for the Lakefront and drive the execution of catalytic projects that will reshape the city.

To execute the North Coast Yard project, NCWDC is working with a consultant team comprised of the following firms with national and local expertise:

  • The Street Plans Collaborative: Street Plans is an award-winning, minority-owned transportation planning, urban design, and placemaking practice founded in 2009. Globally recognized as a leading practitioner of Tactical Urbanism, Street Plans employs a “Plan by Doing” methodology that uses short-term, cost-effective interventions to catalyze long-term change. With office hubs across six U.S. cities, Street Plans partners with government agencies, non-profits, foundations, and private sector clients to create active, safe, and human-scale streets and public spaces that help communities achieve their social, economic, and mobility goals.
  • Seventh Hill: Seventh Hill is an urban design consultancy based in Cleveland, Ohio dedicated to improving human experiences in the public realm through participatory design and insightful research. Seventh Hill is led by David Jurca, a Cleveland-based urban designer with over 18 years of professional experience guiding real-world projects and academic research.

His skill set spans community and economic development including city and multi-modal transportation planning; historic preservation and real estate development; business assistance and retail strategy; and public art and place enhancement strategies.

The project has also received special advising on branding and communications by the Cleveland-based firm shark&minnow.
